Overview

Psychodynamic theory (sometimes called psychoanalytic theory) has a central role in clinical settings.
The primary assumption of psychodynamics is the belief that all people possess unconscious thoughts, feelings, desires, and memories.
Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps the client to improve self-awareness, understand the influence of the past on present behavior, and enable the patient to work on unresolved unconscious conflicts to alleviate symptoms
