The lecture will cover briefly the pathophysiology and the staging of heart failure. A deeper insight will be provided for the discussion of pharmacotherapeutic options (stage based) for both chronic and acute decompensated heart failure.

Objectives

By the end of the session, candidates should be able to:
• Recognize the stages of heart failure.
• Differentiate between variable treatment options according to heart failure stage.
• Discuss the guideline-based management of heart failure. (for both chronic and acute decompensated HF).
