Learners are expected to be able to perform a range of basic surgical skills prior to commencing specialty surgical training. Therefore, we have designed the Basic Surgical Skills Course to introduce surgical trainees to safe surgical practice by teaching the correct basic techniques.
Join us in this pre-recorded course that enables you to attend remotely from anywhere. Each skill is introduced with a step-by-step demonstration.
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Recognize different types of Surgical Instruments and Suturing materials
- Identify the right principle of suturing
- Practice different types of Surgical techniques appropriately
- Understand important surgical skills (ie: abscess Drainage, Skin lesion excision, Foley Catheter insertion and chest
tube insertion)
The Basic surgical skills course is comprised of 16 main recorded videos (4 main Modules). Each video is about 10-15 minutes ( 8 videos for the theoretical part and 8 videos for the demonstration ). The course will be followed by a quiz to reinforce students understanding of key concepts.
Please note that you have two options in this course:
1- Join the course and attend all pre-recorded videos then examine your knowledge at the end of the course.
Or
2- Join the course and attend all pre-recorded videos. After completing all the course material, students will need to capture a short video of their suture practice and send us this short video to get brief feedback from course instructors.
This will improve your knowledge and skills by applying what you’ve learned from the course at home.
