High Flow Nasal Cannula Efficiency in The Era of COVID -19

Introduction

It is noninvasive respiratory support. It can deliver a mix of air and oxygen with an inspired oxygen fraction (FiO2) ranging between 0.21 and 1.0 at a flow rate up to 60 L/minute. The physiological benefits of HFNC are improved oxygenation, decreased anatomical dead space, decreased metabolic demand of breathing, decreased production of carbon dioxide, superior comfort and improved work of breathing, positive nasopharyngeal and tracheal airway pressure, and better secretion clearance. There are misunderstand between caregivers who are using HFNC with other oxygen devices especially with COVID-19 patients.

Join us in this upcoming session with an expert in respiratory therapy to learn more about HFNC.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
You can join and gain knowledge from this session for free. You also have the option to pay SR 80 to upgrade for some additional benefits. When you upgrade you will receive a certificate of achievement and 3 CME hours if you attend 70% of the session live.

Objectives

By the end of the session, learners will be able to:
1- Describe the Covid-19 classifications based on signs and symptoms.
2- Clarify the high flow nasal cannula components, physiological effects, and algorithm including ROX score
3- Identify the application of the high-flow nasal cannula in hypoxemic patients with COVID-19.
4- Illustrate the factors that help to improve HFNC effectiveness with COVID-19 patients.

Main theme

Live lecture extend approximately about two hours, to discus and cover the learning objectives and different aspects about the topic with expert in Respiratory Therapy field.
