Introduction

All of the diabetic patients will be admitted directly under the care of diabetes/endocrine team in most facilities, which leads to a lack of residents exposure during their training program.
Since pediatric diabetes is under general pediatric teams in the smaller health care facilities, we need to improve their information to prepare them to deal with children with diabetes.
In this lecture, we will explore type 1 diabetes from different aspects

Objectives

By the end of the session, learners will be able to:
- Discuss the pathophysiology of type 1 diabetes.
- Define all types of diabetes and the difference between each other.
- Recognize how to optimize the management of type 1 diabetes.
- List the different types of insulin available in the market.
- Distinguish the challenges of diabetes in daily life, food, exercise, school, etc.
- Recognize the advanced technology in the treatment of diabetes.
