Burden of Obesity in Psoriatic disease

Introduction

Obesity is increasingly recognized as a key comorbidity in psoriatic disease, with important implications for both psoriasis (PsO) and psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Evidence shows that excess weight not only contributes to systemic inflammation but also worsens disease activity, reduces treatment response, and increases the risk of associated comorbidities such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes. Despite these links, obesity remains underrecognized and undertreated in patients with psoriatic disease.
This educational activity will explore the complex relationship between obesity, PsO, and PsA.

Objectives

-at least 70% of learners will be able to accurately describe the relationship between obesity and increased disease activity in PsO and PsA, as measured by post-activity evaluation.
