What I will learn?

By the end of this workshop, participants will have a comprehensive understanding of the nutritional support of children with chronic diseases using feeding tubes and different nutritional formulas.
1. Define enteral nutrition and discuss the indications for using feeding tubes in children
2. Describe the different types of feeding tubes used in pediatric care, including nasogastric (NG) tubes, gastrostomy tubes (G-tubes), gastrostomy-jejunostomy tubes (GJ-tubes), and jejunostomy tubes (J-tubes),
3. Understand the indications, advantages, and potential complications associated with each type of feeding tube.
4. Learn how to select the appropriate feeding tube based on the child's medical condition, nutritional needs, and expected duration of tube feeding.
5. Review the various types of enteral formulas available for pediatric patients, including standard polymeric, semi-elemental, elemental, and disease-specific formulas.
6. Understand the criteria for selecting a formula, considering factors such as the child’s age, nutritional requirements, digestive and absorptive capacity, and underlying medical condition.
