Patients want to be engaged in their healthcare decision-making process, and those who are engaged as decision-makers in their care tend to be healthier and experience better outcomes. Engaged patients are also known as “activated patients,” meaning they engage in positive behavior like managing their own health and care. This helps improve health outcomes and achieve lower costs.
