Introduction

Clostridioides Difficile is a Gram-positive, anaerobic, spore-forming, toxin-producing, bacteria that causes inflammation in the colon resulting in diarrhea, as well as other gastrointestinal symptoms, such as abdominal pain. Multiple risk factors can predispose to this infection. The selection of the treatment regimen depends on the severity of the disease, which is classified based on certain laboratory parameters. The infection can be potentially prevented by using antibiotic prophylaxis.
