Overview

Starting Q1 2027, every healthcare provider in Saudi Arabia will be subject to mandatory external coding audits under the CHI Clinical Coding Audit Methodology V2 (announced 25 August 2026).

The question for every coder, CDI specialist, and HIM professional is no longer if this is coming — it is whether you will be the auditor or the audited. This 5-day online intensive bootcamp prepares you to be the auditor. Across 10 hours of live evening instruction on the VMA platform, you will move from the foundations of the V2 methodology and the Saudi coding standards (ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS/SBS) to hands-on application of the 4-section Standard Audit Template, the 22-code DE/PE error coding system, weighted Accuracy and Completeness scoring, and the 5-level grading (A–E). The program covers both internal auditing (audit readiness at your own facility) and external auditing (auditing other facilities as part of a CHI-approved vendor team). Day 5 ends with a 20-question knowledge check — pass at 70% and you receive the Certificate of Completion in Clinical Coding Audit (Internal & External Auditor). This is not a theory course; it is the certification that stands between your facility and a Grade E.

What I will learn?

By the end of the 5-day bootcamp, participants will be able to:
● Explain compliance, legal, and ethical obligations under the Saudi regulatory framework (CBAHI, CHI, PDPL) and the ICD-10-AM ACS Code of Ethics.
● Distinguish fraud from abuse in healthcare coding and describe the seven objectives CHI created the coding audit to achieve.
● Differentiate clinical documentation audit, clinical coding audit, and clinical audit — and explain how each maps to a Saudi standard.
● Describe the difference between internal and external audits and the Q1 2027 mandatory external audit mandate under V2.
● Recognize the V2 audit process using the 4-section Standard Audit Template and the 8-step audit workflow.
● Apply the DE1–DE12 and PE1–PE10 error codes to coding variances, classify each as Accuracy or Completeness, and calculate the Accuracy, Completeness, and Total Episode Scores.
● Interpret the 5-level V2 grading (A–E) and its certification validity outcomes for a facility.
● Describe the V2 Excel audit tool, the V2-compliant audit report structure, the CDI query process, and the CHI Coding Audit Portal.
● Identify real-world fraud and abuse patterns from published enforcement cases and explain how the V2 audit detects them.
● Apply a basic internal coding audit on a sample medical record using the V2 Standard Audit Template.
● Describe the roles, responsibilities, and ethical obligations of an Internal Auditor and an External Auditor.

Course Format

The bootcamp is delivered live online across 5 consecutive evenings (18–22 October 2026), 2 hours per day (20:00–22:00 Riyadh), on the VMA platform. The design is approximately 75% instruction and 25% applied discussion and short exercises — calibrated to the online evening format and the 2-hour window.
