Introduction

The Diabetes & Ramadan course is open to nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers involved in the management and education of individuals with diabetes during Ramadan. Multidisciplinary healthcare teams interested in organizing or improving a diabetes program are especially encouraged to attend.

- Risk stratification of people with diabetes before Ramadan
- Diabetes and Ramadan: A medico-religious perspective
- Management of Type 1 diabetes when fasting during Ramadan
- Management of Type 2 diabetes when fasting during Ramadan
- Management of hyperglycemia in pregnancy when fasting during Ramadan
- Management of diabetes among the elderly when fasting during Ramadan

Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize how to stratify patients with diabetes into risk categories before Ramadan fasting using standardized guidelines.
- Discuss religious and cultural considerations into diabetes management plans to support patient-centered care during Ramadan.
- Create personalized management plans for individuals with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes, elderly patients, and pregnant women fasting during Ramadan.
